
Job Summary
This position is responsible for the construction, configuration, and maintenance of Degree Audit, Degree Planner, and Curriculum rules and systems. The analyst analyzes and evaluates complex CSU/CSULB curriculum and policies, including General Education, to ensure they are accurately reflected in campus-wide tools, spanning from a student's admission to graduation. This includes developing and applying curriculum rules within university tools, including testing and validation of the results. Additionally, the analyst will document, troubleshoot, and resolve issues to ensure accuracy and reliability, and evaluate and apply upgrades and fixes related to campus functionality.
Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Degree Audit and Planner Building - Construct, configure, and maintain Degree Audit and Planner systems. Analyze and confirm that all CSULB curriculum and policies, especially General Education, are implemented and maintained accurately in university tools. Scope changes, update tools, and develop test scenarios to confirm the desired results.
- Curriculum Rule-Building - Construct, configure, and maintain curriculum rules (courses, transfer credit, etc.). Analyze and confirm that all curriculum rules are implemented and maintained accurately in university tools. Develop, document, and maintain best-practices and procedures for building and maintaining the above in adherence to university policies.
- Monitoring and Maintaining Accuracy - Monitor and sustain in-depth expertise regarding current CSU/CSULB policies and curriculum, including but not limited to all majors, premajors, minors, certificates, credential, General Education, and major declaration requirements.
- On-line System Testing - Test new releases developed by Oracle, Chancellor's Office, third-party vendors, etc. as they relate to university systems and reporting. Perform user testing for any changes to programs, including intensive regression testing for custom developments and upgrades to ensure quality, usability, and integrity of system data in support of the business needs of the university.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to understand complex academic curricula, including diverse majors and General Education requirements, and to interpret and apply academic and administrative policies. Skilled in analyzing user needs and translating them into effective business processes using PeopleSoft tools, with experience in updating, interpreting, and maintaining data integrity across information systems. Proven capability in testing, documenting, and enhancing advising tools to support university operations, while troubleshooting system issues and ensuring data quality. Adept at evaluating situations and recommending appropriate actions, managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, and fostering collaborative relationships with Enrollment Services leadership, faculty, staff, and students. Committed to delivering respectful, empathetic customer service aligned with university values, maintaining clear documentation of roles and responsibilities, and supporting operational continuity and strategic outcomes.

Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in applicable field and two years of related work experience required.

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,156 - $4,425 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,879 - $7,488 per month.

Time Base
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
