We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Senior Director, Advancement Services and Operations (Administrator II). Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Central Development, the Senior Director of Advancement Services and Operations is responsible for overall leadership and success of the Advancement Services Department staff, including operational and infrastructural planning related to staffing and resources for Gift Administration, Advancement Database, and Prospect Management. Works with the Advancement Services managerial team and the AVP of Central Development to determine policy/guidelines, best practices, and procedures on a macro level for both internal and external stakeholders. Provides high-level oversight, recommendations, and strategic support of gift accounting, recording, receipt, and preparation of various fundraising and engagement reporting functions. Plays a key leadership role within University Advancement in the establishment and updating of policies and procedures in regard to gift acceptance, receipting of donors, and compliance reports to the Vice President of University Advancement and the Chancellor’s Office of the CSU. Provides oversight and makes recommendations based upon best practices and new technologies of data and records integrity efforts for the University Advancement division. In partnership with the AVP of Central Development, the Senior Director reviews and recommends enhanced resources of staff, consultants, hardware, and/or software to ensure impactful actions for development success across the division. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Four to five years of direct experience working in administration of fundraising, sales, or database environment with supervisory management experience. Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting and ability to understand the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Reporting Standards, Internal Revenue Services (IRS) Regulations and other governing policies and procedures at the local, state, and federal levels as it pertains to fundraising and philanthropic activities. The ability to manage staff at a high level and direct projects and operations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university. A fundamental understanding of fundraising is preferred to perform the duties of the position. Specific experience with a fundraising database/Customer Relationship Management (CRM) such as Blackbaud RE/NXT is desired. High skill level in computer programs including Excel, Word, Access, and project management software use and management is preferred.

License/Certifications

A valid California driver’s license.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) position under the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. CSAs are responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act Crimes reported to them or that they witness. CSA training is required.
