
Job Summary
The Senior Vice Provost (SVP) and Accreditation Liaison Officer reports directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. Working with the Provost and the leadership team of Academic Affairs, the SVP will provide strategic leadership for the division across the areas of faculty success, student success, institutional research and strategic analytics, undergraduate education, graduate education, program assessment, and campus accreditation. This leadership role provides day-to-day operational oversight of many of the central units and processes in the Division of Academic Affairs, an operation that includes over 2,000 faculty, 1000 student workers, and 500 staff with an operational budget of over $300M. The SVP plays a pivotal role in implementing the university’s strategic plan and ensures cross-divisional collaboration to enhance the overall academic mission, including student and faculty success, as well as advancing the campus mission as a R2 research-intensive institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary advisor and deputy to the Provost, participating in executive decision-making and strategic planning
- Act on behalf of the Provost in their absence and represent Academic Affairs in institutional governance and public engagements
- Lead the integration and execution of campus strategic initiatives in collaboration with administrative and academic units
- Facilitate communication and partnership across campus divisions (e.g., Student Affairs, Finance, Research, IT) to ensure alignment with institutional goals
- Engage stakeholders at all levels to foster a shared vision for academic excellence and innovation
- Recommend initiatives and changes to meet strategic planning goals for the University and Academic Affairs to improve quality and services for faculty, staff and students
- Set a tone for collaborative and collective leadership while working with various organizations within and beyond the division of Academic Affairs
- Represent the institution in system-wide, state, and national academic forums
- Direct institutional research and strategic analytics to inform academic planning and decision-making, building a deeper culture of analytics related to our campus strategic priorities and goals, including faculty and student success
- Advance assessment efforts to ensure continuous improvement of academic programs and student learning outcomes
- Lead campus-wide accreditation activities, maintaining compliance with regional and disciplinary accrediting bodies
- Report regularly to the President’s Cabinet, University Leadership Council, and Academic Affairs Leadership Team on progress on accreditation
- Work with other units/departments/divisions/colleges to coordinate workflow and activities to ensure a seamless operation
- Oversee policies, programs, and initiatives related to faculty development, retention, promotion, and workload
- Ensure a culture of inclusive excellence, equity, and academic freedom among faculty
- Collaborate with colleges, deans, and academic departments to support faculty recruitment and mentoring
- Partner with Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, and colleges to implement comprehensive student success strategies
- Monitor key performance indicators related to retention, progression, and graduation rates
- Champion high-impact practices and innovative programs that support diverse student populations
- Provide leadership and vision for undergraduate and graduate program quality, innovation, and accessibility
- Support curriculum development, general education reform, and academic policy review
- Guide graduate education strategy and infrastructure in coordination with graduate deans and faculty

Required Qualifications
- Terminal Degree in any field
- 5 years of management experience at the associate dean level or above
- Demonstrated professional development completed in academic leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of management experience at the dean level or above
- Demonstrated experience at the national level in conversations around academic leadership and expertise in developing professional development programs for other academic leaders
Compensation
Classification: Administrator IV
Anticipated Hiring Range: $20,000/month - $22,500/month
CSU Salary Range: $10,106/month - $32,441/month
The final hiring salary will be commensurate with experience.
